Old Hollywood Princess Dethrones Cruise

Lauren Bacall shimmied onscreen in the 1940s, gaining immediate attention for her glamorous look and throaty, sultry voice. She worked with Hollywood’s greatest stars and sexiest leading men. She even married infinite screen hunk Humphrey Bogart, inspiring the jealousy of many a movie going female. She is truly Old Hollywood royalty - and this matriarch isn’t too happy with at least one member of La La Land’s younger (than her) generation. More to the point, she’s got a big problem with Tom Cruise.
“Tom Cruise is a maniac,” Bacall is quoted in a recent Elle magazine article. “I can’t understand the way he conducts his life,” admits the former screen siren. Bacall also talks about Kidman’s split with Cruise, saying the actress was “unhappy” during filming for Dogville (2003).
“Tom had taken off for Penelope Cruz or some (expletive deleted) thing - one of his more ridiculous moves,” she recalls.
Nicole Kidman, always gracious, did not speak harshly of her ex in the article, talking mainly about her “profound” love with country crooner Keith Urban and her belief in the love between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Good thing you believe it, Nicole, because a lot of the public thinks it’s full of hooey. Apparently, screen legend Lauren Bacall thinks it’s simply Tom Cruise who’s full of hooey.

Hugh Hefner and Holly Madison Part Ways
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Television, Break-ups,
UPDATE: Both Hugh and Kendra have also acknowledged the end of their relationships.
So much for the rumors of a fourth girlfriend. It looks like Hugh Hefner may soon be starting all over again—period.
Despite constant denials about changes within the Playboy Mansion, Holly Madison recently admitted to TMZ that she is no longer the Hef. This news comes just as the fifth season of The Girls Next Door is getting underway.
Over the past few weeks, the buzz around the trio’s status has really started to pick up. Paparazzi photos of Holly Madison partying with illusionist Criss Angel haven’t helped the matter. Neither has Kendra Wilkinson’s supposed relationship with Philadelphia Eagles star Hank Baskett.

Check Out Beyonce’s Massive Piece of Bling

Sometimes pictures - or massive pieces of jewelry - really do speak louder than words.
Even though Beyonce and Jay-Z have not yet acknowledged their April nuptials, the Dreamgirls star has slowly been confirming the news her own way.
In the past few weeks, the singer has occasionally been seen with a very large rock on her ring finger. The flawless 18 carat gem - designed by Lorraine Schwartz - is valued at a whopping $5 million.
I guess someone won’t be needing to worry about the financial crisis anytime soon.

Kanye West Not Ready to Apologize for Airport Fight
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Legal Issues, Videos,
Although it’s been almost a month since he was detained at LAX, Kanye West does not appear he’s about to get past that incident anytime soon.
Back on September 11 (a horrible date for any airport arrest), the musician and his road manager were both arrested for damaging a photographer’s equipment. Although West has since been cleared of a felony charge (he only destroyed a relatively inexpensive lighting component), he could still be slapped with a misdemeanor. (It’s unclear what charges his partner-in-crime might still be dealing with.)
Needless to say, Kanye wasn’t entirely thrilled about being questioned recently by another paparazzo:

UPDATE: Janet’s tour will reportedly resume this Saturday.
An undisclosed illness has now caused Janet Jackson to cancel a total of 6 concert dates in less than two weeks.
Last Sunday, the singer fell suddenly ill during a sound check in Montreal. After a brief hospitalization, stops in Boston and Philadelphia were called off.
Although Janet was preparing to resume her tour on this weekend, Jackson’s doctor advised the 42-year-old to take more time to recuperate. In addition to Saturday’s gig in Greensboro, N.C., Sunday’s concert in Atlanta and Tuesday’s date in Fort Lauderdale were also postponed.

After eight years together, shock jock Howard Stern and girlfriend Beth Ostrosky finally wed in New York last night. The two - engaged since Valentine’s Day 2007 - celebrated their nuptials in a star-studded affair.
Although the Hamptonites had originally planned to marry outside the city, the couple eventually opted for Manhattan’s Le Cirque restaurant. Ostrosky, 36, told People, “We’re going to get our friends together at a restaurant, very low-key.” (And by low-key, she meant only 180 guests.)
Celebrities present at yesterday’s ceremony include Joan Rivers, Donald Trump, Barbara Walters, Adam Carolla, Robin Quivers, Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman. Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa’s finer half, presided over the service while Billy Joel performed two songs.
This is the first marriage for Ostrosky and the second for Stern. Howard, 54, has three daughters with ex-wife Alison Berns. Alison was one of the topics of his autobiography (and movie) Private Parts.

After keeping to her homes in France and Germany, Angelina Jolie emerged yesterday for the cameras stateside.
Jolie - who arrived in New York earlier this week - stepped out last night for a dinner with Clint Eastwood, her Changeling director, and co-star Amy Ryan. (Their movie premieres October 24.) It’s the first time she’s braved the paparazzi since the arrivals of Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

O.J. Simpson Found Guilty
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Sports, Legal Issues, Breaking News,
Exactly thirteen years after being acquitted of murder, O.J. Simpson heard the word “Guilty” twelve times over.
Late last night, the 61-year-old football star and his co-defendant, Clarence Stewart, were convicted for their involvement in a 2007 incident. Simpson, with the help of several armed men, robbed two sports-memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room. The Hall of Famer - who claimed he didn’t know guns were involved - claimed he was simply trying to reclaim what was his.
After thirteen hours of deliberation, the Nevada jurors found Simpson guilty on 12 counts including kidnapping and armed robbery. He could expect to receive anywhere between five years to life in prison at the December 5 sentencing.

Helio Castroneves Indicted for Tax Evasion
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Sports, Television, Legal Issues,
UPDATE: Castroneves was acquitted on six counts of tax evasion. A mistrial was declared on the seventh count.
Have we learned nothing from Richard Hatch and Wesley Snipes?
Helio Castroneves, the former winner of Dancing with the Stars, was indicted today for federal tax evasion. According to the indictment obtained in Miami, the 33-year-old underpaid the government between 1999-2004.
Helio, along with along with his sister (Katiucia Castroneves) and lawyer, are currently being accused of hiding over $5 million of the race car driver’s earnings. The trio allegedly tried “to conceal and disguise the true and correct amount” by using an offshore Panamanian shell corporation. Each defendant faces charges of conspiracy “for the purpose of impeding, impairing, obstructing, and defeating the lawful government functions of the Internal Revenue Service.”
According to the Miami Herald, all three are expected to appear in federal court tomorrow morning. Convictions on all counts could equate to approximately 30 years in prison per person.
